Botak Nasi Lemak @ SS3, PJ

[Pork Free]

Of course I had to drop by a place that boldly claims to be the 2nd best Nasi Lemak in Petaling Jaya! Tucked in a neighbourhood in SS3, parking is scarce during lunchtime. So either you avoid peak meal times or creatively park in front of houses within the area.

While the interior is simple, the shop was cooling and comfortable enough on a sweltering hot afternoon.

They operate on a self-service basis and have several copies of their menus pasted around the restaurant. 6% SST is included in the prices so you don't have to crack your head doing math.

Once you decide what to order, just head to the counter to order, pay and collect your food. Practically no wait time for food unless it gets crazy crowded.

Let's makan!

Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken, Squid Sambal & Fried Egg (4.5/5)

It's been a while since I had a satisfying plate of Nasi Lemak. Visually, it looks pretty darn good.

Nasi Lemak Ayam, Sotong & Telur Goreng (RM15)

Their rice was fluffy and full of lemak (creaminess from the coconut milk) - good enough to enjoy on its own but even better with the accompanying sambal. The sambal leans on the tamer side so if you like it spicy, feel free to add more sambal for a small fee.

Speaking of sambal, the squid sambal was really good. Thick slices of brown squid cooked to tender perfection in their sweet sambal. So good that I'd recommend it as a must-order!

Last but not least, their fried chicken was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I find the batter less rempah-heavy (spice) than other famous counterparts such as Village Park. Nonetheless, it was still very delicious.

Overall, they serve a pretty mean version of Nasi Lemak. The portion size is generous and the fried chicken and sambal sotong add ons were scrumptious. Are they right to claim that they're the 2nd best Nasi Lemak in Petaling Jaya? Perhaps - and I'll gladly add them to my personal list of Top 5 Nasi Lemak places in PJ! Note that they are also available for order on GrabFood but there is a steep markup on the price (RM20 via delivery vs RM15 instore for the Nasi Lemak I ordered).
