[Pork Free]
What do tourists like me do in KL? Explore Petaling Street of course! But after some time in the sweltering KL heat, I decided to seek refuge in this cosy looking KafeiDian (literally translates to coffeeshop).

Despite the crowd, thankfully there was no need to queue for a seat.
The place is tastefully decorated and exuded an old charm fitting of Petaling Street.

The friendly servers promptly guided us to scan the QR code for their menu & self-service ordering. Old school in style but definitely modern in processes.
Their menu features a good selection of traditional kopitiam fare and you can view it here.
Food & drinks arrived in less than 5 minutes - hungry stomach went hip hip hooray. Let's makan!

Steamed Bread with Butter & Kaya (4/5)
The bread was pillowy soft and tasted like those you'd find in a traditional kopitiam. The butter was of good quality but the kaya could've been more fragrant. Still enjoyable nonetheless.
Iced Cham (Coffee + Milk Tea) & Teh C (2.5/5)
Both drinks were slightly diluted & not "smooth". Pretty disappointed since drinks are supposed to be what kopitiams do best.
Half Boiled Eggs (5/5)
The eggs were served in a container that curiously looks like a half-boiled egg maker. To my surprise, the eggs were already cooked and the container was only used to keep the eggs warm.
The large kampung chicken eggs were cooked perfectly and it was a perfect dip for my steamed bread.

Steamed Bread with Chicken Curry (5/5)
The chicken curry was really good. The curry was aromatic and the chicken was tender & full of flavour. Great combo with the fluffy bread.

Nasi Lemak (3.5/5)
I personally found the nasi lemak quite forgettable. It lacked "lemak" and pandan aroma. Plus, the sambal tasted quite average. However, I did see rave reviews for the fried chicken nasi lemak & chicken rendang nasi lemak so maybe a flavourful protein is needed to carry this dish.

Overall, I was most impressed by the ambience and service of KafeiDian. The prices were highly affordable considering its location in bustling Petaling Street. Food is also generally authentic & tasty but I was let down by the drinks. Still a good place to visit if you want to enjoy local kopitiam food in a cafe environment!
