金龙卤面 Restoran Joo Huat @ Georgetown

This week Sabby went hunting for Lor Mee! This delicious Hokkien noodle dish features a distinctively thick dark brown gravy and is normally topped with braised chicken feet, pork meat & skin, hard boil egg, and beansprouts.

Some local friends highly recommended Restoran Joo Huat so I've decided to give it a try.

Lor Mee stall at Joo Huat Kopitiam
The stall is easy to spot - right at the entrance of the restaurant.

The service was very prompt and friendly - food arrived in less than 5 minutes despite the slight queue outside. A quick chat with the owner revealed that the stall is currently run by the second generation and they're still using their 30-year old family recipe!

Let's makan!

Lor Mee (4.5/5)

The portion size came out larger than expected. For a "medium" order, they were very generous with the noodles and toppings.

The sauce is on the starchier side but with a good mix garlic puree and chilli sauce, it came out nicely balanced.

Look at how gooey the sauce is

Toppings wise, the braised chicken feet and pork were tender and flavourful. It has all the makings of a good bowl of Lor Mee but if I were to nitpick, I'd have liked more variety to the toppings to help it stand out from the other stalls.

I only ordered the Lor Mee as it was an afternoon snack after a heavy breakfast. Apparently, the chicken rice and Char Kuay Teow is also good, I'll be back to try those next time!
